Welcome to my life.

I'm a self-avowed WordPress Whisperer with a specialization in front-end design. I live in Maryland. I take lovely photos, go to the gym a lot, and opine strongly over design, aesthetics, and politics. I'm prolific on Twitter; I used to post to Flickr; I have a moblog and in my spare time I help out at the SemperFi WP Support forums. Read more about me.

Extremist cannibalism

By now we all know, that the most extreme representatives of a group work against the ultimate good of that group. Matthew J. Stinson has an inside look on FSU politics and how rabid, ideologically pure Post-Modern Feminists eat up those who do not have a like mind:

The way the Women’s Center had promoted positive body image in the past was to claim, in keeping with PoMo feminism, that standards of beauty are fomented by the patriarchy, and so liberated women shouldn’t care about their appearance. (“Beauty is slavery. Ignorance is strength.”) The fact that most young women enjoy making themselves look attractive, and the fact that the patriarchy (me) doesn’t find most fashion models appealing, has never seemed to enter into the equation.

Hmm, seems to me that this is another case of Irony Beyond Words:

“You’re not a good enough feminist if you don’t follow what we tell you!”

I’m having a hard time finding a good quote to lift from the article that Matt linked, but by golly: something to throw stones at.
