• PSA first: Light blogging the rest of the day through early afternoon tomorrow. I’m straightening out some personal matters.
• Kate has her double-wide edition of the Letter of the Day, with her pointing our my outrage at anything that impinges not just on the Fourth Amendment, but more importantly on the exclusionary rule established in Mapp v. Ohio. There is no proper alternative for that rule as current society stands and it would do us all bad to undermine either Mapp or the the Fourth Amendment in any way. This is why I have a problem with overreaching police powers such as those laid out in the PATRIOT Act.
• I checked the comments over at Michele’s gray box entry and a lot of people really are missing the point. It’s still the same old bone that she and I share: it’s the refusal to even listen or even to consider listening, that turns me off a lot when it comes to talking about politics. The semanticists pointing out flaws in Michele’s diagram can just go ahead and debate it with Yggy for all I care.
