Last word on the awards thing

… or at least I’ll try.
There is something good that will come out of these awards that Kevin is doing, and if you slyly think to yourself, “Yeah, he’ll make it to Higher Being for a day,” then what you need is a fucking KitKat and stick it up your asses. I’m crass and I know it. But how about some of you who have been writing about the polls like it were a huge tarnish on everything dear and pure about blogging?
This will ultimately be a test of class. I’ve got none, so I have nothing to lose. What about you?

All of these awards prove one thing: nobody ever went hitless pandering to the egos of bloggers.
If these awards things mean nothing, as many naysayers say, then what is the harm in them? Doesn’t decrying them as both ridiculous and the downfall of blog civilization seem at cross purposes?
I think awards, for the most part, to be just an interesting way to discover new blogs and drum up a little bit of linkage.
They do, however, bring out some stick-up-the-ass factions.
