Geoffrey speaks of a Christmas bonus that I hardly hear of here in the US:
This year, the owners of the plant decided to forgo their annual end-of-year frozen turkey bonus. What did it give instead? Well, if you worked for the company less than a year, you got $500.00. Not a bad bonus. If you’ve been there longer, you got $1000.00 for every year you’ve worked there. One man and his wife received $19,000.00 each. Now that’s a company I wouldn’t mind putting in a little over time for.
That sure beats the usual one month’s Christmas bonus and thirteenth-month pay that most Filipino companies have to give to their employees round this time of year. Considering the buying power of the Philippine peso, every bonus counts.
