One Fine Jay

For all my warnings

Professor T has evidence of what I have warned against in discussing the Immigration Reform Proposals that Bush has set forth. In response to severe grumbling from certain pundits, he says:

Let’s face facts: is this policy worth a President Dean or a President Clark, or whichever of the Nine make it through the process? I think not.

Further, I guess I simply don’t understand why this issue raises the ire that it does with certain large segments of the conservative movement

I don’t have time to fully address the issue, but I would point out one salient point that those who decry the fact that we are rewarding illegal behavior: as I noted yesterday, if people are willing to die to get here, what do those opposed to this policy propose to do to stop them from coming? If people are willing to risk it all, what incentive structure can be erected to disuade them from coming?

Seems quite a few are channeling Lou Dobbs, now, eh? Let’s see. This issue has now officially become passe for me. Why? So many people are going over the top on their rhetoric (from Mad Bill to Johnny Blogley Of Ten Visits A Day) about the issue. They are either for a blanket amnesty, or, among ConPundits, that this plan is amnesty, which as far as I see it, is not.

I’m glad there are folks like Professor T, Vinny, and Chet who are at least willing to hold off on final judgment.

Now is SO not the time to be putting on our Michelle Malkin masks and start running around the streets screaming “BOO!”
