When Insta-Glenn linked to the slam on James Lileks by Dennis Perrin, I thought the general consensus was that it was too lame to Fisk.

Pundit Filter has a roundup of bloggers who have gone ahead anyway, for reasons I cannot fathom. Perhaps we see a little bit of ourselves in James Lileks, darling of our section of the blogosphere, and a Real Person. Perhaps this, perhaps that, whatever the reasons, Lileks’reaction—one of cold, disdainful dismissal—is the best I have read:

So: do you think the guy who wrote that article called up this site today, hoping he’d find a foamy-mouthed point-by-point reply?

Maybe. Who cares? Let’s talk about the stars.

More words than necessary, but perhaps second best to what could have been the best result. Cold ignorance, the kind that would drive a rabble-rouser like Perrin frothing in the mouth for attention.
