Let’s take a look at my dear friend Val’s blog, and the title, “Babalu Blog.” The accent is on the last statement, so henceforth in this post i’ll spell my words with capitalized accent syllables (as in BabaLU) for clarity.
He’s Cuban, and there are linguistic similarities and differences between both Filipino and Spanish. This is quite notable: in the Philippines, “BAba” refers to the chin. “BabaLU,” spoken very quickly refers to someone with a long chin. So, to a Filipino, like myself, Val’s blog is actually the pseudonymous blog of Democrat presidential candidate, John Kerry.
Val has quoted Richard Nixon in defense of his identity, saying, “I am not a crook.”

Actually, in Cuban the single word “baba” means drool. So, if we mix in both Filipino and Cuban, Babalu would mean “Long Drooly Chin.”
