Priorities and Frivolties

First of all a small apology to Robby T. for using the name of his blog for this post. I find it appropriate considering my news surfing today:

Priority: Taking out al-Sadr.
Frivolty: Unfortunately there is a warrant for his arrest sent out by an Iraqi judge. Meaning, we really can’t just pave into the ground anyone who goes in our way to get him. That and we do have to keep him alive.

Priority: Taking out al-Sadr.
Frivolty: He’s hiding in a mosque. Imagine the uproar if we bombed it and killed him with nary a loss among our troops. Imagine the howls of indignation at our religious intolerance, bombing a mosque, oh the horror!

Priority: Taking out al-Sadr.
Frivolty: War on porn. I repeat: a war on porn.

Priority: Taking out al-Sadr.
Frivolty: Calling that bastard a legitimate voice. How many charges of character suicide are we filing against Kerry again, by the way?

Look, I don’t know how to run this war. I do know that this issue of an Iraqi judge requesting our help in arresting a man with a militia of at least 3000 cannot be a law-enforcement issue. Not since the first shots were fired at our troops. He’s resisting arrest, and in endangering our troops — having been instrumental in the deaths of quite a few — he’s asking for a missle or a few to come his way. I have no doubt in my mind that if we find that “cleric” and bomb him to kingdom come, we’d hear cries of foul.

The time to bear down hard on these insurgents is long overdue. We’re not even done with Fallujah and we have this monkey on our back? I think we should stand up straight before too many monkeys break us.
