Caveat, Bill Hobbs

Bill Hobbs is encouraging our techonologicaly-challenged GOP buddies to advertise on blogs using BlogAds. I’m iffy about the idea, especially among *ahem* more immature bloggers like myself.

I don’t want to be worried about a candidate’s face being tacked beside words that I have written and used for or against him. I need my intellectual freedom and latitude, and no disclaimer, written in 72-point type, can change things once someone decides to tie my words with a candidate’s mug. If I recall, Atrios pulled down all candidate blog ads after the Kos kerfuffle, and I find myself agreeing with him.

However, I trust Bill Hobbs’ taste. He knows who to recommend, though I’d throw in Doc J, Chris Lawrence (though Brock Sides would have a fit having a Republican ad on his share of the blog) and Scott Ott. Because Scott doesn’t cuss on his blog, and he’s good too. That and I can count on him not to say screw them about dead mercenaries.

  • Considering that the BlogAds people ignored me when I sent an inquiry, I won’t be any hurry to be adding them to SN.

Kevin offered us guest bloggers a week of blogads and I have yet to think of some good copy for making one. I have too many buttons as is and am looking forward to the election being over so I can ditch some, well three offhand. Dunno if I’d like ads, might be like guestblogging, have to watch my tongue, er typing.
