I am of course flattered to be included in your list :) — I do have to just let you know that Dunstan (http://www.1976design.com/blog/) isn’t using WordPress, but rather his own software.

  • Max Thrane says:

    WordPress IS sexy!

  • Skillzy says:

You left kartooner.com off the list.

  • kartooner says:

It’s quite alright. I’m used to being left off the list.

  • Ian S. says:

No, he’s right. WordPress is *much* harder to make a good-looking (or even average) site in. It’s taken Z and I 6 weeks to make a WP template that looks almost as good as our MT one, and it’s still not right.

  • Max Thrane says:

Just because you can’t or not used to it, does not mean it’s harder…

  • Vinny says:

Wait a minute, you’re taking a comment from that dumbass to mean anything?

Dude, she’s a fucking moron, end of story.

  • OF Jay says:

Vinny, how is it that I can count on you to put me back into reality? Dude, I’m having my fun giving her the necessary exposure. She dug for herself a Texas funeral. I’m just inviting more people to the service.

  • Vinny says:

Please don’t expose her too much; that bitch is harsh…

  • OF Jay says:

Hold on a sec. Isn’t she more popular than I am? If such is the case then my exposure of her is an exercise in wasting time. She must be popular on the merits of her writing.

  • Vinny says:

Yeah. And people read Playboy for the articles…:???:

  • Trey Givens says:

I’m going to pretend that I was left off because I hadn’t fixed my style sheets yet and not because everyone is a bigot against red.

    *pout*

  • Jim S says:

I’m not saying they’re “UGLY” per-se… but from what I’ve seen so far, including my own WP test-blog, They seem to be fairly generic… ie: blocky content section on a background color with a header pic.

I’m still just a “newbie” at WP, but it seems the blogs aren’t like you see out in the MT world… while when I first started diving into MT, I could usually recognize an MT blog, with WP, I haven’t been wrong yet…

perhaps it’s because WP is still almost brand-new and nobody’s customized as much yet??

Although WordPress is a nice, simple (maybe a little too simple) blogging tool, I have yet to see any really stunning sites. Personally, I want to create something with a nice curvy look to it, like this Drupal theme. Anyone do something like this with wordpress?

  • OF Jay says:

So, you leave a comment with no way to reply other than here, so I guess I’ll have to be harsh in public instead. Read my lips: It’s not in the blogging tool that you use that brings out a “stunning” site. If the Drupal theme that you showed me came with the package, that’s because someone designed such a theme to go along with it. Oh JOY. You can do *anything* with wordpress, movable type, drupal, mambo, scoop… you can make them as ugly or as “stunning” as you want. You can even make them unstyled. But one thing you’ll never convince me of is that it’s the CMS’s fault, because more than likely it’s the fault of someone like you who won’t take the time to make his own layout and study the means to do so.

Mind you, did you click through the damned list? Because I saw two blogs on there that had “curvy” corners at least on their main containing boxes. Bugger off.

  • Mr. X says:

Blog systems are not design applications. They’re a type a CMS, which stands for CONTENT management system. If you can’t make it look good, I’m afraid you should blame it on yourself. Saying WP blogs are ugly is about as relevant as saying they’re stupid… It has nothing to do with the software, and everything to do with the author.

And I seriously doubt you could tell my blog is powered by WP just looking at it (besides for the credit line at the bottom ;) ).

  • Gravity says:

I guess that is all opinion. Here is a template I took and completely re-wrote…

    http://www.gravityworks.us/a.wpblog/

This is wordpress and it has the EzStatic Hack / Adhesive and comment subscription plugins.. along with some other things like phpadsnew…

    Looks pretty to me ;)

    Kind regards,
    Gravity
