When creative types attack
June 4, 2004
The 2004 Republican National Convention website (screenshot) tries to dust off the boring, stuffy, religiously authoritarian stigma associated with Republicans in exchange for a look that reminds me of hip online clothes stores: DC Shoe Co. USA (Flash site, be warned; screenshot), Pacific Sunwear (screenshot), and American Eagle Outfitters (screenshot). Could it be that the creative types that “hip” Democrats used to hire until they decided that a dead-serious, un-hip look (screenshot) would be best for them moved over to design for the RNC site?
From Doc J, who wrote: The convention website is looking very un-GOP at the moment. It appears as if Gen X —or even the dreaded Gen Y — has taken over.
[Note: All screenshots are posted as JPG first of all to annoy Anne Van Kesteren (male), and second because it gave me the smallest file sizes for quality. They average 40KB.]

I can’t believe that’s the RNC site!
Looks good to me, far better than the competition.
