Last year, Megan McArdle proposed Jane’s First Law of Politics: The devotees of the party in power are smug and arrogant. The devotees of the party out of power are insane.
I propose a corollary to her law: The power of a current leader can be measured by the insanity in which his detractors descend into.
Two cases in point, one regarding George W. Bush and the other, regarding Ronald Reagan.
