PC Heaven

I’m not talking about political correctness either. My new machine runs on an AMD Athlon XP “Barton” core 3000+, with an ASUS motherboard, 512 Megs of RAM, a 40 GB system HDD, a 120 GB storage HDD, a 48x CD/RW drive, and a 40x DVD ROM drive. The AMD is running at a very happy temperature of of 84 to 89 degrees Fahrenheit, cooled by a huge heatsink and fan combo that makes it the noisiest PC I have ever encountered. I am, however, proud that it is mine. All of this sits inside a black Aspire X-dreamer II case, with six very purdy blue LEDs in front.

Here’s a photo:

Also, I’m not the only one who is getting a new computer; Chris Reid is too. Congrats!

Looks like a great system. You made an excellent choice on components. One thing I might do is ditch the CD/RW for a DVD burner. If you are a power user, bump the memory up to a Gig. Is this the first time you built your own system? You’ll find that this is the only way to go. Unless you want an Apple or a Notebook (for the time being!).
