What we are as a nation
April 15, 2005
It may or may not be one of petit bourgeoisie, but that isn’t the focus on things tonight.
According to some, we’re a nation of sad people. And according to the Real Republicans like Jim Sensenbrenner, we’re a nation of drug addicts and felons. Or maybe, as Bill Frist might think, the only Real Americans are the Godly ones.
Personally? I’ve heard too many stories of school districts drugging young boys up with Ritalin in order to make them behave, because, well, you know, schoolteachers have too much on their hands and dealing with uppity boys is such a pain in the ass. Is it true that schools can petition the state to force parents to administer Ritalin to their kids or else they won’t be accepted in class? (Never mind the fact that boys and girls are different, because we all know what happens even to Presidents of Ivy League universities who say things like that.)
A while back I wanted to write about the possible sources of creeping fascism in the country (with the progenitors being doctors, moralists and environmentalists) but just about any treatise on creeping fascism is usually viewed as pure paranoia so I’d rather look at history and just say “I told you so.” However, just a few things I’d like to let off my chest about this issue before I go back to rambling about pretty things and posting pictures:
I am sick and tired of liberals, Democrats, leftists, whatever freaking label you want to apply to this group, who think that we are a country of diseased, insane people who have to be medicated and babied into some sort of anesthesized stupor because, well, I don’t know what your freaking reasons are. We’re not nuts, and we’re not always a clinical case and to be honest we can actually take some hurt and turn it into something great, mmkay?
I’m also sick and tired of the hardline moralists among the Republicans who think that we’re a nation of drugged up ass-raping sodomite felons who have to be held by the hand as we walk the Right path into the Heavenly gates. Saint Peter didn’t contract you to save souls, folks.

You know who the root cause of all these problems is, don’t you?
It’s the Jooooooooooooooooos
(I mean who else do both the far right and far left like to blame)
