RINO Sightings Carnival, here at OFJ
Welcome to the Labor Day edition of RINO Sightings, where you can peruse the posts from the Raging RINOs group. Without further delay:
- Dean Esmay lists quite a few politicians to be held accountable in Lousiana.
- Pigilito cites an article from The Economist on computer models used to track influential SCOTUS decisions.
- C Daddy makes it clear that Bush isn’t behind the breakdown in disaster preparedness in New Orleans
- Orac has found proof of intelligent design.
- Jane revisits a heavily updated blog post of hers on Yemeni journalists.
- The Recovering Democrat is talking about gas prices.
- Larry submitted a foursome: on his religion class, sniping at the enviro-whacko crowd, Cindy Sheehan, and anomalous gas pricing.
Quite a few posts on anomalous gas pricing so far. Just a short digression… the meteoric rise in gas prices on a day to day basis is something I never thought I’d see here that happened routinely in the Philippines.
- Barry Campbell of Enrevanche writes of the “Howard Beale” moments in our media, because of Katrina. Just like that time a local dropped Sheppard Smith the F-bomb, perhaps?
- Al of Politechnical writes of more massive incompetence in response to Katrina’s aftereffects.
- Say Uncle drops the F-bomb, again, about Katrina response.
- Rachel of TinkertyTonk has a link-filled post on what’s gone on in New Orleans so far.
- AJ Strata fires a shot at Kos for his petulant dismissal of the way our government decides to commemorate 9/11.
- Here’s a non-Katrina post from aTypical Joe: you don’t wanna be calling him a chickenhawk. He tried to get in, but those who might need him and his skills don’t exactly want him. Which is sad.
- Mark of Decision 08 notes the tactical importance of rebuilding New Orleans.
- Jack Grant at Random Fate examines accountability, and how voters, too, are responsible in a way for their own fate.
- Judith at Kesher Talk wants to let the word out on a few ways to help Hurricane Katrina victims.
As I type this, I wonder: will the continuing drive to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina last as long as those that were for the benefit of the tsunami victims? The Adele H. Stamp Student Union in UMCP had a donation table for tsunami victims months after the fact—with help needed for years to come every bit helps—I’ll have to give the spot a look and see if there’s help out for Hurricane K victims weeks from now.
- The Commissar has submitted an instant classic post on how the Left and Right generally have blogged about Katrina. If you can stand some of the toxicity in the comments, watch out for Hesiod’s return from his bloggy disappearance, only to fall into the crass act of using the combined donations of the organized lefty bloggers to score points against those with whom he was in a discussion.
- John Donovan uses common sense and knowhow to dispel the ignorance about emergency response in New Orleans.
- Eric Scheie takes a look at those whose mouths deserve to be sewn shut with lead wire for a couple of days. But that’s MY take on the problem.
- Nick takes a look at those who have taken the blame game to an absurd level.
- I’m not sure if JD has work yet, but he makes a good transrciptionist.
- Restless Mania provides some Christian perspective.
- Phin helps, however he can, and takes note of Compassionate Souls.
- Buckley F. Williams takes a light-hearted jab at Pat Robertson.
- Don Surber insults ham sandwiches all over the world by equating the “absolute moral authority” of “Mother Sheehan” to that of theirs. Hey man, ham sandwiches at least satiate hunger.
- Tom Hanna has found a creative use for the future Nationalized IDs that we’d soon all have to have.
- Dan at Searchlight Crusade emphasizes the need for data mining, since the black hats are already way ahead of us. Rock, meet hard place. His specialty submission has a grim proposal for what would be what once was New Orleans.
- Finally, from John Cole, we have a more constructive form of “blame game.” This is one I’m willing to play. Preparedness is something we don’t do enough of, and what has happened over Katrina has definitely underscored that opinion.
That’s it, dear friends, for this week’s edition of the RINO Sightings. Next week it will be over at Sadie, Fistful of Fornights.

Thanks Jay. I’ll adjust my blog and put the voodoo doll away.
By the way, I meant to compliment you on a nice, clean carnival. Tough to juggle 25 entries. Everyone should be pleased and appreciate the hard work

[...] A lot of important posts at the RINO round-up at One Fine Jay. Its such a huge tragedy that isnt over yet and wont be over for a long time. Theres still thousands of people currently trapped without food and water New Orleans which is still under water. Theres several hundred thousand homeless and without any resources at all, a quarter of a million in who’ve been relocated to Texas already. Alabama and Missisppi are very hard hit and in Louisiana, an area the size of Britan is completely destroyed. Check out the RINOs for a comprehensive and multi-faceted analysis. I live in NYC and when Mayor Bloomberg directed all blame towards The Federal Government. I became very nervous to say the least, since it is near impossible here to obtain a gun permit in the event I am forced to defend myself and I did not own a car. (Ya know white poor people cannot afford cars either) I contacted him in order to ask a simple question.
Mr. Mayor, in the event of a crisis are you going to behave in the same inept manner as your collegue Mayor Nagin by waiting to lead your elected populace until someone else shows up to do your job?
Governors and Mayors from all states and cities must not be allowed to use LA State governmental mentality to set a standard for how state and local governments should respond in the event of a crisis.
This cannot happen, ALL our lives are at stake.

I point out Mayor Bloomberg because he is a RINO.
That, and from my own personal experience with Bloomberg’s leadership during difficulties is that the only way I would receive protection is to become an anti-American anarchist demanding Republicans be exterminated.
Until then, I am on my own left to fending for myself.
