Jayvie is many things:

I'm a Maryland resident. A self-avowed WordPress Whisperer, I use it in all my projects. I take lovely photos, go to the gym a lot, and opine strongly over design, aesthetics, and politics. I'm a heavy Twitter user, a moderate Flickr participant and in my spare time I help people at the SemperFi WP Support forums. Read more about me.

Production Notes

One Fine Jay is a personal, self-published news and opinion web magazine* run on WordPress. I sometimes refer to the site as a blog, but it’s not entirely accurate. The medium itself has changed by far from when it was popularized by Dave Winer years ago.

Themes

Richmond is the 2009 theme for this site.

Ash, embers and smoke: in the dark light shines through. I developed this theme to showcase my photography and other graphical work while providing readability for my writing.

Does this site look weird to you?

This site is tested on Mozilla Firefox 3.0.x, MSIE 7, MSIE 6, minimal testing on Safari on Mac. I do not use CSS hacks, so if there are bugs out there that make the site look inconsistent, I have made my peace. Despite that, if there is a major functionality issue with a rendering flaw, please email me with a screenshot.

Photography

A short history of my cameras: pre-2004, Olympus D-380, 2MP point and clack. Until March 2005, Sony DSC P73. Until June 2006, Sony W1. Since then, an Olympus E-500 digital SLR.

Copyright and permissions

The CSS used in the designs and themes of this site have been developed through self-learning and studying the CSS of other sites. I do not lay claim to any pioneering techniques. That said, the totality of the designs that I employ—the look and feel itself—is mine and mine alone, unless I have given permission for its use. Please do not rip off my designs and my aesthetics. The positioning rules are quite common though. If you think you could learn a lot by studying my CSS, go ahead.

Please do not quote my writeups in their entirety unless they are so short (say, a paragraph, or three) that quoting them would be meaningless. Judicious use of direct quotation is the hallmark of a good writer. Always give credit; even newspapers that quote blogs do those.

Finally, I retain copyright on all original photography and images. I credit images that I fair-use for the purposes of commentary. Contact me for permission on the use of my photographs for any purpose, and we’ll talk about licensing.
